Joey Banks (she/her), MD, is a dedicated family physician with over 20 years of experience providing compassionate care in diverse settings, including not-for-profit health centers, Indian Health Services, and educational training practices. For more than 11 of those years, she has been proudly serving the Missoula community.

Joey’s medical and personal journeys have taken her to remote Alaskan villages, public health centers, OB delivery suites, hospice wards, and reproductive health clinics. From Africa to Maine and Montana, her comprehensive family medicine approach has remained rooted in empathy, inclusivity, and excellence.

The word “journey” holds deep significance for Joey—not just professionally, but personally, as it is even reflected in her maiden name, Journeycake. For Joey, healthcare is a lifelong journey of pivotal decisions and everyday choices that contribute to stable physical and mental health.

“I love to help people to put their medical story together with multiple differential diagnoses and choices. I want them to feel heard and empowered to make their own choices for their health care. I want them to feel educated enough to advocate for themselves with specialists, family, and primary care providers. I want them to feel ok about exploring all forms of healing besides traditional allopathic medicine ( even though allopathic is my training) I enjoy helping families advocate for other family members or aging parents by educating them about medical diseases but also on how to navigate the healthcare system. I look forward to working with you.”
